it's a thing I cultivated from a very early age. a defense again being ignored and it helps a very small person with little or no backup get her own way.

You didn't have a timeship. I always had an escape route. Only reason I didn't get killed much, most of the time.

Plus it's amazing what you can get away with when the distraction's loud and surprising enough. We'd've made a great thieving team.

i put a lot of work into being underestimated.

actually, now i think of it, i know a lot of unarmed combat techniques specifically for smaller people up against huge bruisers. is anyone teaching you any of that?

I usually don't have to put in a lot of work into it, but there's not much of a gap.

[People see that he's small and quiet and scared of almost everything - and all of that is true. That they sometimes underestimate how far he'll go or what his powers mean doesn't change that.]
