"It can be. Uh, simpler. I have an easier time with...patterns. Where one thing leads to another." He's good at breaking things down into small steps but within a greater pattern.
"They do." He hesitates a few moments but it's something he's gotten more...used to talking about here. "I have - abilities. With patterns. It's best with stuff like computers," he waves a little vaguely at the parts around them, "Because they'll follow their programming and if they don't, it's easy to know why. People are harder but I can...see them too. Doesn't always help." Knowing what's coming and being able to do anything about it have been separate concepts for a long time.
"I can see how it wouldn't." He can follow creatures very well. That doesn't mean he never gets bit; far from it.
"Do you have- are computers a common thing, where you're from?" It's a little hard to wrap his head around. Muggles have more technology to make up for what they can't manage with magic, of course. But in his time, they still don't have anything like what surrounds them now.
"Yeah, they're very common. Or were, the internet crashed some after - everything. But computers were big. Phones too, not just calling but stuff like the communicators; where you can send all sorts of stuff or access the internet."
He pulls his Chatter from a pocket, showing it to Newt. "This is built from, uh, a more old fashioned type of cellphone but it's about the same size and shape as more...recent ones."
"Is that- that's a phone?" Newt's seen them, here and there, even if wizards don't particularly have a use for them. But they certainly don't look like that.
"I always figured the communicators just worked by magic."
"They can do a lot more than the communicators," as close as he ever comes to sounding dismissive, "You can access way more information and organize it more efficiently and search for things..." He misses computers frequently, though the slate Jedao gave him is an even better replacement.
"Sounds incredibly useful." He's happy with his notebooks for his own use, but actually trying to turn those notes into a book was certainly more work than he expected.
"They are, you can do so much with them." His animation is more interest and less nervous fidgeting when it comes to this subject. "I, uh, would be happy to tell you sometime, if you want."
