[Hanna's mood is all over the place after his little chat with the Admiral. After his slip up with Hunter his second day, he'd kind of made the decision to not take his shit out on children, but he's got all this energy and nowhere to put it, so might as well call his new babysitter.]
Hey dude, just being proactive and checking in. What you got cooking up this fine Thursday afternoon?
Hi. [Hanna doesn't remind Nico of Jude on the whole, but in the face of the energy... if Nico smiled, he might at that. As for his plans, since Hanna has contacted him first:] I'm working on a robot.
[He does enjoy making robots. He's fonder of the coding part, but there's satisfaction in a finished product.] I'm used to - commentary.
[He looks up to meet Hanna's gaze for a moment.] You don't have to. If you want to be left alone. I don't want to make you do anything. The... responsibility doesn't go both ways. [Yes, he'll hold himself responsible if Hanna is hurt or hurts anyone else, but he doesn't think a conversation will make sure neither of those things happen, and Hanna's the one who's been brought here against his will.
At the end of the day... well, Nico doesn't expect anything from anyone. Not anything positive, at least.]
Pffft, naw you're taking it too seriously. Quota for cranes, I'm supposed to make a few more today, and it's more fun folding with someone else, or at least with someone else around.
And do you think I'd have called you if I didn't want to hang out? Temp rotation is like those charity organizations that make sure kids have people to hang out with. You're my babysitter for the month so don't think you're getting out of seeing the most of me. Sorry, thems probably the rules or something.
[There are very few things Nico doesn't take seriously. Currently that includes taking Hanna at his word, instead of going into all the reasons he can think of for calling that don't involve wanting to.]
That sounds nice. [He doesn't mind working next to other people, and he knows what Hanna means about how it can be more fun to work on something with someone else. Even if he suspects the reasons are different.] Why do you make cranes?
You gonna tell me what cabin you're in or just leave me hanging? Unless you're not in your cabin...where does a guy build a robot around here?
[His expression shifts just a little, less stupid grin, more sincere smile.] I got a buddy back home, He doesn't remember shit, but when I helped him out with a guidance spell once, a crane showed up.
We're not exactly sure the significance, the spell manifests as something you're supposed to trust, and without anything to really base that off, we just figured we'd fold a thousand, make it mean something again.
...I'm in cabin five. [They are basically neighbors. On the other hand, Nico does everything he can to avoid being noticed so he enjoys proof that his cryptid ways pay off.
[He nods.] I read a story about a thousand cranes. To make a wish. [It had been Before, so it doesn't have the crystal clarity of other memories, but that makes it a softer memory than most.]
Oh my god how did I not know that? You know, it's probably because I got so distracted by the drama next door. That and Stolas has the most fucking obnoxious door ever, how can you even see anything but it in the hall?
Let me get my shit and I'll take the horribly long journey over, if that's cool. I could bring my laptop too? Add some background music if you don't mind working with something playing.
[He is just walking around, gathering some shit to make the short trek.]
Yeah, well I think the crane folding is more for the intention than any sort of wish. But this place seems like a good place to grant a wish or two, so maybe I can give him the thousand along with something extra when I get back.
It was a lot. [He could've done without it. But, if he's being honest, there had been a certain horrifying fascination to it. Since his door had been firmly shut.] Stolas' door does... stand out [it's a lot, and helpfully overshadows his nondescript door.]
I don't mind. Background music is fine.
Intention can be a kind of wish, too. Though it's nice when it comes with something more concrete.
He's alright, but definitely a little too hoity toity for me. Cool as fuck though.
And I guess. I mean, just thinking about someone is enough, but the ritual of it makes it special.
[Dumping his crane bag into a growing pile in the corner of the room, Hanna shoves paper and his laptop in it and trots over, not even bothering locking his door. He's like two doors down and it isn't like he's got any important shit in there worth taking.
Don't mind him as he knocks out a stupid rhythm, ready for some face to face. It'd do some good for his mood he's sure.]
[The rhythm reminds him of Jude again, though then it would be part of a secret password. He opens the door, for once not having to look up. There's something to dealing with someone who's the same height as him.
He steps back so Hanna can step into his cabin. It's kind of depressing, the bunk-beds shoved into the small room that wasn't really made for them, but there are worse places. At least it means there are places to sit. Nico has laid out his electronics on the bottom bed of the bunk-bed nearest the door.
[Hanna's big smile greets him at the door, slipping in to give it a good look. Honestly his tiny apartment isn't much better, though as a warden he's a little surprised he hasn't changed anything about it. He's got free reign to do so.]
I got an extra chair now, if you want one? It doesn't really match the stools at the island, so I don't mind at all. Now that I've actually got some furniture in there it just looks out of place anyways.
But I honestly don't mind at all. Who needs a chair when you've got a perfectly fine floor?
[Completely unbothered, he'll set his back down on the floor, setting up the laptop to get started with some Death Cab, some good ole Transatlanticism.]
Holler at me if you hate what ever i've got going on by the way.
[He nods. He doubts he'll recognize anything Hanna might play, and that's all he needs. Instead of a computer, he pulls out what looks like an old - ancient by his time - flip-phone]
Uh. I have water if you'd like. Some protein bars too.
I'll grab it for you later before I go to bed, not like it's hard to haul.
[Hanna raises a brow at the phone, pretty sure he'd say something about being from the future, though off the top of his head he can't remember what year.]
You into antiques? I didn't think phones were that collectable, you strike me more as a radio kind of guy. But...I mean, if it's not a bother I'll take some water.
I remember when I was younger they had those 'spy kit' shit in the Christmas catalogs. I think I was a little old to be looking at them, but they always looked fun.
That's cool. Got any ideas of what you'd like them to do? Or use them for?
[He's pretty sure that the 'listening devices' with those dorky headphones and the loud speaker looking shit didn't really work as the advertisement said they did, but eh. He was a kid and it looked kind of cool.]
Right, you said that before. Speaking of, do you think you could like, fix my laptop? I've been using limewire and Pirate Bay for years and you'd think being ported in from a different dimension would debug the thing, but it's still got a metric ton of viruses bogging it down. Thing is slow as sin.
[The request comes as a great relief. He doesn't need Hanna's laptop so it isn't his place to comment, but it has been a struggle to see it and try to let go of the obvious problems. He looks enthusiastic - well, especially enthusiastic compared to his usual affect as he reaches to take it.]
You sir, are a shining example of teenage excellence.
[Because there is no way this kid isn't a teenager, and despite Hanna's mismatched age to looks, he's positive on that. Handing over the beat up old laptop, he moves to his spot on the floor again, picking up a new piece of paper.]
You got a favorite animal? Can't just ask for Geek Squad services for free, that'd be rude.
[His attention is focused on the laptop, but it doesn't need the sort of focus that cuts out the outside world. He just has to do a little tune up. Just a few small things. If he's going to get rid of viruses it's best to make sure that the computer can't get any more once they're gone. And once he's started, really he can do an overhaul without having to go out of his way...]
Oh... Well thats okay! I think I've got a better idea.
[To which Hanna quietly starts folding thin, long creases in his paper and gets to ripping them, trying to be quiet enough that he's not going to bother Nico. If they get to a port that has a stationary store, he's totally going to get the right kind of paper for this, but he can make it work.
Getting to work, he spreads out a bunch of different colored long strips and just gets to work folding and pinching tiny little stars.]
