Nico has grown comfortable (or, at least, accustomed) enough that he does manage to come in without looking like he's expecting certain doom. It's mostly because of the work.

Despite his focus, he gets that out instead of just starting on numbers.
"A replacement for the voidmoths. He says trillions are set to starve, in the absence of faster than light interstellar travel. We're slotting in a humane, ethical replacement."
He says- still very little of what it will be, but sure it needs to be done. The Admiral can handle those kinds of details.
